Do you have a tree in your garden that you want taken out?
However big or small, we can help… Our team has extensive experience around tree felling southampton and is equipped for even the most hazardous jobs.
We have handled everything from large diseased oaks to small light-blocking cherries.
As well as felling the tree we will also remove the tree from your garden. We’ll remove all the brush, the logs (unless you want to keep them) and even the stump!
This involves having a well coordinated team that has the right tools and follows industry standard guidelines (such as BS3998).
We’ve all seen those videos of people trying to cut their own trees, they never end well. We don’t want anyone to put themselves at risk by trying to do our job themselves.
Even with smaller trees there are still hazards that are involved and should be avoided at all costs.
Not to mention the headache of having to remove it yourself.
In some cases, it can be. No one likes to see big, beautiful trees taken down without reason, and we always do our best to avoid this or advise otherwise.
If other pruning operations can achieve your desired outcome (see other services), we'll always opt for that.
As tree surgeons, we are concerned for the environment and strive to make decisions that are best for you, the tree, and its surroundings.
In fact, one of the services we offer is tree planting, so if you want to replace the tree with a new one, we would love to help.
However, in many cases removing a tree is the best way to go…
The tree poses a liability risk, and insurance companies recommend removal.
The tree is diseased or dying and poses a threat to people or property.
The tree is leaning dangerously or structurally unsound.
The tree has an incurable disease or pest infestation.
Important plants below aren’t getting enough light.
Roots are damaging sidewalks or driveways.
The tree is blocking views or sunlight.
The tree is interfering with utilities.
Roots are damaging your property.
Whatever the reason you have for needing a tree removed, our trained professionals can help.

After every Tree removal or tree felling we always offer to grind out the stump.
Our high powered stump grinder can remove a stump any size as well as any roots that are above ground. We want to make sure your garden is safe from any trip hazards.
Even if we haven’t taken out one of your trees, we still offer stump grinding as a stand alone service and our professional team of arborists will assist.
Safety: Removing the stump eliminates trip hazards and makes your garden safer.
Aesthetics: A clean garden free from stumps looks more appealing especially if we help you with any garden care services mentioned below.
Prevention: Grinding stumps prevents regrowth and discourages pests and diseases.
No one wants their tree cutdown just for it to re-grow from the stump and then attract pests and diseases into your garden.
After the stump has been grinded the whole will be refilled with the sawdust from the stump and eventually, grass will grow over it.
However, as we are also garden care experts and offer seeding as a service, we can fill the whole with soil and seed it so your lawn looks perfect as soon as possible.

Reductions are one of the most common operations in our industry and for good reason…
One of the things people worry about is the weight of a tree becoming too much for its root structure and that leading to the tree eventually failing.
There’s no doubt that this is a valid concern, however in most cases that doesn’t warrant the tree being removed entirely.
So we often suggest having the tree reduced. This involves removing usually 1-3 metres off of the entire crown to give the tree a balanced and tidy look.
Here’s an example of a reduction we’ve done before…
Now, although usually it's 1-3m that is taken off, we also do heavier reductions. In some cases a reduction of up to 5-6+ may be necessary, especially if it could be considered dangerous.
If you’ve got a smaller tree or shrub and want less than a metre taken off we also offer that…
To find out more about what it comes under ‘pruning’- click here to go to that page.
Can every tree have 1-6 metres off it?
The answer to this question depends on the age, species and overall health of the tree.
When we compete to quote a job we always take into consideration the species of tree it is. Some trees like willow and poplar can be cut to a stump and will somehow sprout back.
Whereas other trees like macrocarpa, cannot deal with being heavily reduced.
Reductions are often used when a tree is getting too big for where it is. This could be because it's blocking out too much sunlight or the branches are starting to interfere with property and could potentially cause damage.
The tree will also improve the overall aesthetics of your garden.
Yes of course! When a tree is reduced effectively by professional arborists it not only helps maintain its health and appearance but also provides significant environmental benefits.
By promoting biodiversity, preventing environmental damage, improving air quality within the tree which will promote growth and health.
If you get your tree reduced, you’re not only improving the health and aesthetics of your garden but also making a sound investment in the safety, value, and enjoyment of your home.
Let our team of experts help you achieve a beautiful, dream garden that you can take pride in and enjoy for years to come.

You may be thinking-
“I want my tree cut back on one side, not the whole tree reduced”
Whatever tree or garden problem you’re having, our professional team of arborists are here to assist.
Reductions are great but you may only be worried about one side, we suggest having your tree cutback or partially reduced. This is often carried out when a few branches are encroaching your property or over a boundary line.
Sometimes a tree will have a few branches that stand out from the rest of the tree and make it look unbalanced and you may just want a more rounded shape.
Well make sure they are a safe distance back from whatever the branches are encroaching and each branch will be cut back to a pruning point to ensure optimal tree health.
Improved Safety: Cutting back overhanging branches can prevent potential damage to your property and reduce hazards.
Enhanced Aesthetics: Achieving a more balanced and visually appealing tree shape enhances the overall look of your garden.
Boundary Management: While reducing overhanging branches back to your property line, this will prevent disputes with neighbours and ensure compliance with local regulations.
Tree Health: Proper cutbacks ensure that the tree remains healthy and vigorous, avoiding unnecessary stress or damage.
We always prioritise tree health as well as getting you your desired outcome. To do this well make a tailored plan for your tree and your needs.
Our team of professional arborists use the latest techniques and tools, we execute the plan safely and efficiently, ensuring all cutbacks are made to appropriate pruning points to prevent tree stress or damage.

Pollarding is often carried out for similar reasons to a reduction.
These reasons could be;
To let more light into the garden.
Take weight off the structure to ensure it's not at risk of failing.
Decrease the size of the tree to prevent damage to your property or other trees and shrubs around it.
So what’s the difference between a pollard and a reduction?
A reduction is cut back to suitable growth points to promote growth from the shoots,
Whereas a pollard means taking off all brush and foliage from the crown and leaving the tree as just a frame or pole.
A pollard is great if you’re worried about an area in your garden that’s too dense and you want to give other foliage and shrubs the opportunity to grow.
It’ll also mean you’ll have a better view of everything that’s behind the tree as well as allowing more light into your garden meaning you and your plants can enjoy the increased light.
Reduced Maintenance: Pollarded trees require less frequent maintenance, as all growth is pruned back to the stem, allowing the tree to be left for several years before needing attention again.
Safety: With no foliage acting as a sail, the tree is at a much lower risk of being blown over in strong winds, reducing the risk of damage to your property.
Tree Health: Pollarding can preserve the health of a tree, as it becomes less vulnerable to damage and can live longer.
However this operation can’t be carried out on every tree…
We always consider the species and consider the health of the tree before carrying out this operation as some species can’t handle being cut that heavily.
Here’s a list of species that are commonly pollarded;
Willow
ash
oak
lime
poplar
london plane
There are many other species that can be pollarded but these are the most popular.
If you have one of these trees and want them pollarded, or you want to find out if your tree can be pollarded, click below to contact us and we’ll assist as soon as we can!
